About

DM/DM is a furniture design and manufacturing service headed by me, Doug McCollough. Having trained and worked as a professional furniture builder for two years, I launched my own custom furniture business in 2009. My first commission was a walnut counter stool wrapped in cotton cord, a piece that has become the first in a series of rope-upholstered seating with explicit joinery detailing. Over the years my services have expanded to handle all aspects of built-in cabinetry and casework, from 3-D rendering to fabrication and installation.

In addition to producing original work, I regularly collaborate with other furniture designers who are not trained in construction or simply do not have their own tools. They are regular visitors at my east Los Angeles workshop where I invite them to roll up their sleeves and participate in the dirty work of design.
